United States

I make podcasts. I love story-driven audio that challenges my assumptions and broadens my perspective.

I also write and produce stories about culture, sustainability, and business.

Places, my reported narrative podcast about American culture, opportunity, and #vanlife, took me to 35 states and hundreds of small towns.

#1 - The Trip

Housing in San Francisco is expensive, and we’re in the mood for an adventure. So we’re waving "bye" to our city and heading out to document what's going on in America right now. We'll live in a van, explore offbeat towns, and share stories about places that are often overlooked.

#7 - Marquette, MI

We happen upon a town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and find something unexpected.

# 4 - The Virus

We’re making good progress toward the trip. Then we’re thrown a major curveball—COVID-19. Hear how we handle the ultimate wrench, in real time.

Large crowd debates Valencia bike lanes

The meeting room at City College was packed as tightly as an N-Judah train during commuting hours. The Municipal Transportation Agency had called for a discussion of protected bike lanes on Valencia Street, a major commuting thoroughfare and cultural center of San Francisco.

#11 - Santa Fe, NM

I’ve had this dream of living in a small city with great restaurants, interesting culture, and easy access to nature. I explore Santa Fe, New Mexico and consider if it may be the place for me and Nick.

#8 - Honesdale, PA

We learn how COVID is impacting business and life in a quaint Poconos mountain town. And we take the town's political temperature.

Finance Friends Forever

I co-edited the audio for this fun, personal finance course. It's geared toward creatives and covers investing; how to budget, handle debt, and grow your income; ways to build your savings and credit score; and how to plan for retirement.

#3 - The Van

The Hustle
Employee stock options aren't just for startups any more

Integrity Marketing Group, a private equity-backed life and health insurance biz, announced last week that they're extending ownership to their 750 employees and distributing a $50m payout to recognize the company's wild success.

San Francisco Bay Guardian
The pedestrian pop of Sylvan Esso

Upon first listen, Sylvan Esso kind of takes hold of you. Nick Sanborn's melodic, layered, driving electronic beats pair perfectly with Amelia Meath's blissful voice and artful lyrics.
